In a few days Bon Jovi is coming to Bergen. Ken works with setting up stages for bands and I decided to join in for the day. I'm also working on the same stage in four days which is the day of the concert. It's really long days, they start at 07.45 am and end at 08.00 pm. So 12 hour days with heavy lifting. It's really not my scene (haha), but it's alright from time to time.
Yesterday was quite crazy as all of a sudden there were 24 degrees in the shadow and at least 30 degrees in the sun! It hasn't been great here when it comes to the weather lately so that was a big surprise for everybody.
In one way it was great as it's an outdoor concert so we got to work in the sun, but bitter as well because we had to spend the first and only really lovely day of the year working. Thankfully there wasn't that much to do, really. We sat up the base of the stage, but were missing the boards that go on top that actually makes the stage where people walk and Bon Jovi performs. Apparently they had disappeared because they were in a truck on the way from some other country (if I understood correctly) and truck drivers have a specific law that makes them only be legally aloud to work eight hours a day. So that truck driver had gotten to his time limit and stopped, I think? I also heard that the truck company couldn't find it, they didn't know where the boards were. There was no way of continue building the stage without those boards apparently so we just waited for hours not being sure if the truck was actually coming or not with the boards.
When we found out that the truck wasn't coming we decided to set up the spotlight towers. Some other company had the towers and it had been agreed that they were going to give it to us the day after, but since we had nothing to do we asked if they could bring it to us right now instead. They said they could bring it at 5.30 pm, but it got delayed to 6.45 so there was a lot of waiting and some sunbathing.
We could walk around the city when we had nothing to do so Ken and I went to a fun fair about to minutes away and went on the Ferris Wheel. It was really fun and we got to see a lot of Bergen from really high up. The rest of the time we sat around watching and discussing the fashion on the different people walking by and if it was nice or not.
