If you have been reading my blog for a while you must know that my favourite movie is Breakfast at Tiffany's. I always knew I had to read the book at some point or another, I was also nervous that it would be different from the movie and ruin the movie for me.
Half way through the book it hasn't at all ruined anything. It's an amazing book. Things are quite different in the book than in the movie, but the idea is exactly the same. Also the dialog is pretty much exactly the same, but scattered out in different parts. So everything being said in the movie is being said in the book as well, but often at different times than said in the book. It's really weird, but it works!
I know that Truman Capote had Marilyn Monroe in mind for the role instead of Audrey Hepburn when the movie was being made. In the book Holly Golightly is blonde which is awesome, I can relate even more to her now, haha!
It's fun to see some of the things in the movie explained in a way. For example when Audrey Hepburn sings Moon River in the window while playing guitar she has a towel on her head. I never put much thought into it, but I did notice it. In the book it's explained that she would always sing and play guitar by the window after her shower. There is a lot of random stuff that happens in the movie that is explained in the book.
The book is also from Fred baby/Paul Varjak's point of view which I did not expect at all. Also Holly moves in with Mag Wildwood in the book! I'm awfully sorry if that spoils anything if you were planning on reading it, but the book has been on my mind a lot lately and when something is on my mind I have to write about it, in my defense, that's why I'm a blogger!
